Good day everyone… Welcome to the second episode of our quote challenge titled “Discipline; a pathway to Divine elevation
It’s a great pleasure having you here again , I pray you will be blessed with this episode
Did you miss the first episode: Consistency; the key to accelerated progress
The title I wanted to give this at the initial stage was Discipline: a pathway to achieving big but a pathway to Divine elevation struck my mind
Discipline; what do we know about discipline? Discipline is doing something gainful but not convenient, denying yourself of pleasures.
Sometimes discipline can come in a very challenging situation where you have to choose between your flesh and your spirit.
The spirit is willing but the flesh is weak.. it takes God’s grace and discipline.
Apostle Paul said, the things I would not, he did and the things he would, he did not(paraphrase)
Through out this quote challenge, we’ll be looking at the life of Daniel and his companions.
And Daniel purposed in his heart that he will not defile himself with the portion of the King’s meat, nor with the wine which he drank; therefore he requested of the prince of the eunuchs that he might not defile himself.(Dan 1:8)
This verse is a popular verse of the scripture but there are many lessons to learn in it.
He will not defile himself with the portion of the King’s meat and wine, that’s discipline…
Despite the sweetness of the meat and wine.
I imagine how big those meat would be and how sweet the wine would taste,
but Daniel purposed in his heart to discipline himself, he did not want to be defiled.
He Disciplined himself, he did not allow the ecstasy of the palace get into his head and forget where he is coming from.
Many times, we forget our foundation, our background because of the pleasures of a short moment,
but Daniel purposed in his heart, he determined in his heart to be disciplined.
He did not allow the enjoyment of wining and dining in the palace take the place of God
He was not mindful of how sweet the wine would taste, he was not mindful of the euphoria of nourishing his body with meat and wine.
Daniel has mastered the act of discipline, because he knows the pleasure of a moment can cost him his destiny.
Remember Esau, I looked at his life and all I see is lack of discipline, he was only mindful about pleasing his stomach,
only mindful about the pleasure of that moment.
Is it that, if he did not eat that food at that moment, he will die because of hunger?? No!!!
It costed him his birthday, which he sought carefully with tears but could never regain again.
Sometimes, we need to deny ourselves of somethings, we need to deny ourselves of the pleasures of sin.
Infact, we need to deny ourselves of some TREASURES in life for we to discover a Divine treasure, for we to attain a Divine elevation.
Oh!!! See what Discipline did for Daniel and his companions.. As for these four children, God gave them knowledge and skills in all learning and wisdom.
And they were found ten times better than all the magicians and astrologers in all the realm( Divine elevation!!!)
We need to let somethings go, somethings we hold dearly to our heart, somethings we prioritize, we need to let it go….
Things we need to discipline.
The flesh: The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak.. we still need to discipline ourselves..be intentional about being disciplinef. Discipline yourself by fleeing. Joseph flee, flee from every appearance of sin and evil.
Tongue: there is life and death in our tongue, it takes Discipline and the grace of God to speak words seasoned with salt at all times, it takes discipline not to gossip, it takes discipline to bless people with your tongue
Appetite: sometimes our appetite can kill us, it can kill our spirit, the children of Israel was not disciplined in their appetite, they grumbled and then, God send Quill, they eat and eat till they got sick.. it takes discipline to deprive oneself of a day with God
Yourself: sometimes, we want to pray,we want to do something productive with our skills and talent, but we are not in the mood to, it takes discipline
Discipline makes you invest in your talent, your love for God when you don’t feel like
The grace of God is sufficient for us but discipline yourself first, then, God will give you grace..
I hope you are blessed…see you tomorrow again on seven days quote challenge.
